St. Coletta's new addition, the Sr. Anne Mary Rischar Center, opened in the spring of 2004 to meet the increase in workshop participants, and Kennedy School enrollment. The new 20,000 square-foot addition will allow the Kennedy School and Vocational Program Center the opportunity to expand the vocational services and welcome new students into the program.
The new Center is dedicated in memory of Sr. Anne Mary Rischar for her hard work and dedication to St. Coletta's as a Board member for 8 years. The new addition includes The Shirey Family Gymnasium, the Joseph and Lorraine Kobel specialized training room and the Daniel Martino specialized training room, along with additional school classrooms, a computer room, and large storage room. Also provided is an area for automobile repair and general maintenance.
The new Center is a wonderful way to keep up with the demand while supplying the spacial and functional needs to every individual in the best possible way.
In addition to the building, the grounds behind the facility have been transformed dramatically to give consumers more room to enjoy the fresh air outdoors. A basketball court and putting green have been added to boost outdoor activities. An expanded employee parking lot was also added to eliminate congestion.
Along with the new addition, St. Coletta's wanted to bring a piece of the Palos Park campus along to the Tinley Park location. Two original statues were brought over to remind us of the history of the organization.
Also, eight evergreen trees were transplanted on the Tinley Park grounds. The trees were planted by consumers at the Palos Park campus reminding us of how St. Coletta's has grown and will continue to grow over years.
Through the generosity of all the gracious contributors, the new expansion will allow St. Coletta's to move into the future and open doors to more individuals who are mentally and/or physically disabled.
